  1. You know many countries have defeated invasions despite loosing territory. Like Russia with Napoleon, and Russia in WW2. Occupying land and killing civilians isn't a valid war goal for success. Supply lines mostly open. Command centers still functioning, military basses still operational. Russia hasn't accomplished much except demilitarizing themselves.
