Putin was furious about this because it would decrease his income and influence in to Europe. All these poor solders have no actual idea why they are actually fighting each other. They didn’t back in 2014 and they still don’t in 2022. By the way, Black Sea and Donbas land all the way to Chernihiv is rich in Oil and gass . You look at the Russian occupation map in Ukraine and you will see they are successfully controlling much of this territory.
