@jacklam9843 That nice guy you might have exchanged a hand shake or an in store sale with could be told to go to Ukraine tomorrow and be firing missiles in to Kharkiv or Kherson killing civilians. Listening to kotkin’s interviews from 5+ years ago, he does critique the western world. 😊 Same with Timothy Snyder. He too criticised the west as well as East Asian countries. These guys have read 1000s of documents and books in multiple languages and studied and analysed them all to come up with the best possible conclusion and knowledge we can hope for today.
