  1. That's all we had in my family as kids in the 1960s. My favorite was the one with faux "wood" side panels and the rear facing seat in back - as long as Mom left the back window up. Otherwise, we ate a lot of dust on dirt roads. My fondest memory was a 1975 road trip with one of my sisters and her friend to pick up our eldest sister in Arizona and then on to visit our foster brother in San Fransisco. We covered about 6000 miles in that week long odyssey. The last time I drove a station wagon was in the late 1980s when my sister and her entourage of friends came to visit me and run in the Boston Marathon. As I recall, I rented a Taurus wagon for them.
