  1. The early history of movie making involved the use of live ammunition and resulted in a number of accidental deaths on set and during filming. In 1931 James Cagney was nearly killed by a belt-fed machine gun firing live ammo during the making of the movie Public Enemy. The bullet strikes on the wall as he ducks around the corner are real. As a result of extremely dangerous scenes such as this, Cagney helped form the Screen Actor's Guild to demand greater safety measures in movies. Thanks to Alec Baldwin, the clock has been reset 90 years.
