That was then; this is now. Will the EU survive?

@FriedrichHerschel One should look at why the Brits left. They wanted to maintain their sovereignty. EU bureaucrats, like bureaucrats everywhere, cannot resist the temptation to meddle in matters that are none of their concern and expand their power base. Ultimately the issue is about control. It really doesn't matter if that control is being administered from Brussels, London, or the local city hall. Folks generally want a say in it and a limit to it.

@FriedrichHerschel For now, but one cannot predict the future of the EU. I know some former east block countries such as Poland have refused to abide by the immigration demands of EU leadership. Threats of punitive action will not engender trust in the organization. One merely has to look at the history of Europe to realize it is neither homogeneous nor united. As memories of WWII fade, I expect ancient animosities to once again arise. The heavy Muslim influx is already setting the stage for future strife, as are rising tensions regarding the response to the Coronavirus epidemic.

I was hoping you would report on the anticommunist revolutions and movements that took place behind the Iron Curtain from 1945 through the fall of the Berlin Wall. Most viewers are familiar with the Hungarian Revolt, the Prague Spring, and Poland's Solidarity movement, but who remembers the brutal suppression that took place in other Com Bloc nations during this time period? They are forgotten.

The birth of the US Space Force? Time will tell . . . unless the space commandos travel back in time and change everything.

What, no mention of Tatars?
1
@TimeGhost My mistake, you do mention Tatar raids at 5:28. I should have been more specific. I'd like to know how much influence the Tatars had on Ukraine's history. My understanding is today they compose a very tiny minority in Crimea, but were they ever a significant group in the area or did the Cossack dominate Ukrainian history? I guess I've viewed the Tatars the way I have viewed the American Indian, as an opposing force that temporarily delayed the expansion and development of North America, while having a lasting influence on the culture.

Howdy from your southern neighbor in Montana.

@johnhenninger1980 Nope, and I don't care. He and Ted Turner are some of the big spread owners, but they do not normally mix with the hoi polloi - thank God!
