  5.  @NautilusSSN571  Yes, but they work best from prepared ambush. In an ideal world you know the disposition of the enemy forces and their capabilities and can counter it with an appropriate force mix, but such combat opportunities are the exception rather than the rule. Like A-10s and AC-130 gunships, light tanks are suited for a low threat environment. In a pinch they can fight a superior force, but it will normally come at a high cost. Such an incident took place in the Gulf War when a scouting group of Bradleys took on some Iraqi tanks. The Bradleys won the slug-fest, but at the cost of several vehicles and crews. Had the men been in Abrams there would have been no such casualties. This is the tradeoff.
