Why are you assuming the electricity that powers electric cars will come exclusively from renewable resources when 2/3 of all electricity is being produced by fossil fuels? You can't cherry-pick your electricity. Even if you tried, the renewable fuel source you use for your car must be offset somewhere else by nonrenewable fuel. Indeed, a world full of electric cars will greatly increase the demand for electricity. Perhaps it's time to revisit the Stanley Steamer concept. :)

As you have demonstrated, renewable energy is not a constant or stable energy source, and both battery storage life and efficiency are not its only major issues. The entire system life cycle cost must be considered. Windmills and solar panels wear out and will have to be replaced. Therefore, the tremendous startup cost may only be the tip of the financial iceberg. Until a truly efficient, reliable, and cost-effective system can be fielded, I would not abandon or reduce dependency on other sources of power. Maybe someday fusion will replace all other power sources, but if and when remain unknown.

Makes more sense than hyperloops and launching sports cars into space. I hope it proves successful. I could certainly use a massive boost in internet connectivity. I find satellite disks, DSL, and cable to be quite lacking and costly.

At 3:57 you state the plasma cloud was moving 450 km per second. At 5:59 you state the particles are moving at .15% the speed of light (which is the same as 450 km per second), and that satellites placed at L1 can "provide up to an hour of warning time." The sun is 149,600,000 km from the Earth. Traveling at 450 km per second it should take over 92 hours for these particles to reach Earth. Based on this information, I presume the satellites are relatively close to Earth.
