  1. I use screws a lot in my construction projects around the home. It is slower and more costly, but for some jobs it is worth it. I often find I must pre-drill the holes, which takes even longer. I also pre-drill holes when nailing if the nail is inherently weak, driven at a precarious angle, or going through a knot.
