He didn't drive up there while armed. He had a gun in Wisconsin legally. Having a weapon for defense doesn't mean you want conflict; it means if someone attacks you, you want to survive. It's a dangerous world, and there are millions more defensive gun uses than offensive ones.

@fenderblue9485 The prosecutor had handbrake on his computer. He edited the video to make it blurry so the defense wouldn't use it, but they did it anyhow, so now they came up with the "whoops, we texted the video over" excuse.
