@emberducati9237 That's nowhere. Have you ever started a business? The idea that we have no regulation is laughable. Saying we live with unregulated capitalism is as true as saying we live with totally legalised drugs. That is to say, not at all.
10
@namduong8437 "Original meaning?" Who cares what the original meaning is? In practice, attempts at Communism massacred a hundred million people. In practice attempts at capitalism have nearly abolished absolute poverty in a matter of decades.
10
@emberducati9237 We don't have unregulated capitalism here.

It would probably speak Japanese.
6
It never took root in America because America was far too productive for such disastrous nonsense.

@andreiplesa2935 Ha! No, commies revolting in 1884 didn't cause any of those things to be put in place half a century later. Capitalism is WHY we have wealth. Free markets allow brilliant minds maximum freedom to innovate and create value. It's why extreme poverty will be abolished in 2030. There's nothing worthless about free markets. If you think so, you're welcome to not partake in trade. Go be a juche and enjoy all the spoils in the DPRK. Capitalism and free markets are why the human condition has evolved beyond spear-hucking and dying of cholera at age 6. We've been able to acquire and cultivate wealth due to transforming resources to create goods and services that people value more than their money and improve quality of life. There is no science in a world without profit. There is no technology in a world without profit. There is no innovation in a world without profit. There is only starvation and shortages because people aren't rewarded for producing and creating things people want and need. It's really easy to say free markets are worthless when you have no Understanding of econ. It's like an anti-vaxxer that doesn't understand biology and medicine or a flat-earther that doesn't understand astronomy and geography or an anti-GMO activist that doesn't understand botany and farming. I'd recommend you familiarise yourself with what free markets are and how they work by reading up on economics. Learning won't hurt you, and questioning your beliefs won't either. I'd recommend "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell or "Economics in One Lesson" by Henry Hazlitt. Hayek is also a great resource. Those safety conditions came into place because workers had bargaining power. It wasn't a revolt, it was valuable workers demanding more, and money-hungry companies competing with one another for better employees. Henry Ford popularized this in the U.S.

@BatMan-oe2gh I said extreme poverty.
3
@comrade3186 Citation needed. 4,000,000 people dying due to factories and expensive medicine is a HUGE claim.
3
No, feeding 7.5 billion people is a great way to make money. Letting them die isn't. Dead people don't spend much money, so that's not a good way to grow a business. Hunger is caused by distribution issues and political issues in these third world countries with authoritarian governments, not by first world countries with a surplus. You're just as fake "woke" as the people who claim we're overpopulated.
2
It is literally all about market point equilibrium. Market floors cause surplus. If you create $10/hr in value, you'll never receive $15/hr in wages. You'll receive $0/hr. The true "minimum wage" is $0. We're about to see that when the minimum wage is doubled in some areas and their employees are cut in half.
2
@danycashking Everyone repeat after me: Price Ceilings Cause Shortages.
2
@seanlawler1321 Ha! That money ain't real.
2
@alistairmackintosh9412 Chant what?
2
Why the hell is your comment section so goddamned awful? It seems that nearly every other comment is advocating for genocide or at least eugenics, even on videos unrelated to population. It doesn't make sense, since your videos aren't awful, and they're high quality, and other animated video essays don't have the same problem in their comment sections. Any ideas?
2
anson No, they aren't. And even if they were, that wouldn't be "nuff said."
2
Answer: It's not.
2
@littlesayonara3216 Depends on the stats.
2
@FNLNFNLN HA!! Oh God, you can't be serious. Profit isn't inefficiency. It's created value. My God, man. It's surplus. Inefficiency would be losing money, not creating it. There's no incentive for efficiency in bureaucracy. Budget surplus causes budget cuts, so you end up wasting money so as to not get less next year, whereas saving money in the private sector is rewarded.
2
@cstrutherskgs This is quite true. Switch America to this utopian commie medicine (not subsidized private care, I mean nationalized healthcare), and all this sweet innovation drives up. America is already hamstrung by pharmaceutical regulation preventing some innovation; I'd hate to see what it'd be like were it to be even worse!
2
Ha! This is perfect, Angelo. Where'd you hear that??
2
bosnian Forrests are growing in the first world
1
Yeah, it actually disappointed me a bit that he didn't mention this fairly obvious, well-known fact about population growth slowing down.
1
Steam MaussS That's objectively false. The second derivative of the population is negative. It's slowing down.
1
War Is never good. Not for the economy, not for families, not for individuals, and not for societies. It's only a superficial temporary uniter.
1
Why the hell would NOT giving people a product or service be more profitable than giving them the service or product? That's like saying, "Everyone buying cars isn't profitable for car manufacturers, everyone walking is."
1
Chuck Norris with a BB Gun?
1
@OutSideTheBoxFormat Bingo. Who's creating new breakthroughs? Who has better outcomes? Spoiler alert: not Rwanda.
1
"Super intelligent big brother among the stars." Lovely thought!!
1
What ended up happening in 1997???
1
This is just slightly less racist Nazism. Like Benito Mussolini, but with a far more ridiculous name.
1
Are you accounting for radical life extension?
1
Congrats! What do you think about it? Do you like it there?
