Rushed through via the constitution? The Senate doesn't have to appoint someone the president recommends. You might want to reread the constitution, then listen to his argument here again, because you somehow missed both

@paigeherrin29 Which is legal. They almost never confirm an appointee from the opposing party during an election year. It's happened like twice. That's allowed.

@paigeherrin29 The difference is the party in power in the executive and legislative branches. That's what you've missed about this whole thing. When the parties differ in the election year, they rarely will confirm a nominee, as I said. You'd know this basic fact if your media consumption were more well-rounded.
