In some languages and cultures (I can only think of Hebrew and Hawaiian right now as examples), the term used to describe a cousin and brother is the same, and sometimes the word to describe parent and aunt/uncle is the same, because they see the extended family as the core building block of a tribe. The word for cousin/brother is basically "family member from my generation," which includes both cousins and siblings.

  6. The truth was, he did a lot, and then FDR ran saying he'd stop all the interventions and go more hands-off. He won, then changed America forever as far as centralised power goes, and we're taught in schools for some reason that it's the opposite. FDR probably kept the depression going an extra 8 years.
