Those two words are usually trouble when they're together. You don't seem to understand that free trade is beneficial to all folks involved. That means even trading with the gasp! Chinese. You don't have to be Chinese to buy Chinese goods. That's why we live in the 21st century where people can freely choose to buy from anywhere in the world. I'm sorry to break this to you, but you don't get to control what other people value with their money. If you want to buy American, knock yourself out, but it's not your right to infringe on the rights of others to buy and sell unhindered by government bureaucracy and nosey busybodies trying to make an extra buck. If you want to be an entirely self-sufficient country that never buys anything from other countries, you've got two choices: USSR and DPRK. Take your pick. You can either have free trade and capitalism, or heavily restricted trade based on no economic principles and socialism. Take your pick.

  9.  @LordAshura  China has grown by heavily controlling what is done with their money. They restrict nearly all freedom in favour of growth, both real and artificial. If you want to live in a dictatorship, you too can experience such success.
