Why is it that everyone who's thought about this seems to be able to grasp the "quarantine the vulnerable, keep the economy alive" idea except for the people with all the power? Is it a sunken cost fallacy?

@dannytheh3ro You're doing backwards math here. IF 25% of deaths are between 45-65, and I'm going to need some solid data for that, that likely has more to do with the much higher number of people between those ages vs the actual mean age of death, which is 80-82. Letting some people go outside and allowing others to stay in isn't condemning anyone to die. Also, the curve has been flattened. We never even came close to overrunning any hospitals. All the doomsday models were wrong (and NO, don't tell me it's because we locked down. Those models said 2m American deaths of we don't, 200,000 if we do. That didn't happen.). And the reason most deaths are from older people is because it affects older people worse. Most young people shake it off quickly. Have you bothered to actually look at the data? The Netherlands released a solid serological study based on blood donations recently that showed the hospitalization rate, ICU rate, and fatality rate at different age brackets. You should check it out; you're gonna love it.
