  1. Eddie's not getting how exponential growth works. If we were dealing with deaths that doubled every week, he'd spend two months laughing at only 16 deaths, then half a year later 5% of people are dead, and four weeks later, everyone is. I'm of course saying that would never happen, but cutting back on exponential growth with a virus that at the best case has an R0 of 1.48 is worth trying!

  2. The media is definitely running with this. The Hill and The NYT are both running with the CDC estimate from ONE MONTH AGO that was the WORST CASE SCENARIO if we did NOTHING at all, so it's a useless estimate. It's just fearmongering. That being said, I support cancelling all the meetings. That will without a doubt save numerous lives. I'm 25. I'm safe. Even if I get it, I'll be A-OK. Just feel shitty. My parents are in their fifties. They'll be miserable and maybe even end up in hospital, but THEY will survive as well. My grandparents would be toast. I'd go mad if I figured out I got my grandma sick from this and killed her because I was being reckless. What we need is science and facts and data and numbers, and those all support ending mass gatherings, but they don't support fearmongering.
