I like how he's talking slower than usual. It's helpful for this discussion.

Tim needs to stop saying "monopolizing public discourse." They haven't monopolized anything. Everyone can still speak without Twitter. This is a bad one for him.

I'm not in agreement with this. They have a right to do whatever they want. They shouldn't have to play ball with American speech laws. It's their right to regulate speech as they please, and Uncle Sam should NOT step in. Government regulation WILL make this worse. Stop pretending like this is a good idea.

@rogerc23 then thank Christ you're not a lawmaker. Big Government is NOT the answer to big tech. Let people live their lives instead of meddling.

Zzz But that's literally not how monopolies work. You sound like Elizabeth Warren complaining about Amazon or Apple. Twitter doesn't control 80% of online communication. Neither does Facebook.

Tim has said numerous times that he things regulating them is a good thing.

Regulation causes monopolies. It doesn't prevent it. Monopolies are prevented by competition and innovation.

@zealous8091 Regulation is what these big businesses LOVE. Regulation always ends up preventing competition and benefiting the big guys, since they're the ones who've bought the politicians posturing about "breaking up big business."

@zealous8091 The same thing we do with every other industry: vote with your money. Gab will fail because it turned into a white nationalist shitpit that no one wanted to use. Same for Voat. If Twitter isn't working for you anymore, lead an Exodus away from it. You don't even need to replace it with anything. Go outside and enjoy your life. Delete your Twitter account. I promise you'll end up happier. If millions more follow suit, they'll be forced to change their policies to stay afloat.
