  1. The reason "Black Lives Matter" is seen as controversial is that it's a Motte and Bailey statement. The Movement for Black Lives, which Black Lives Matter is a part of, is basically a communist organization. They call for radical wealth redistribution, an end to private possession of resources like land and water, and a whole host of other disastrous policies. It's hard because we all want to see police brutality reformed, and there are actionable steps to be taken to help solve the problem, but the statement itself is the name of an organization pushing policies many of us don't stand for. That's why I won't loudly proclaim it. What should we do? I'll link the website if anyone wants to check it out for yourselves.
