There are still general agreed-upon standards for such things as grammar, punctuation, syntax, spelling, etc. "They" is a plural pronoun, and it always has been. You running in here and saying, "NO RULES LMAO NO RULES LANGUAGE MEANS ANTTHKNG YOU WANT! THATS HOW LINGUISTICS WORKS HAVENT YOU TAKEN A FRESHMAN LANGUAGE COURSE AT COMMUNITY COLLEGE?!?" Doesn't change that. People can say whatever they want; that won't make it correct.
