In UK English there are really two verbs "to hang". There is the verb "To hang". Which basically means to suspend and there is the verb "to hang" which means to execute someone by putting a rope found their neck and then suddenly removimg the supoort from under their feet. The verbs have two past participles which are slightly different "hung" which is the pp of "hang" to suspend, and "hanged" which is the pp of "to hang" the method of execution. The English themselves, often confuse the two.
