  1. The thing about officers in the British Army is that they all come from Wealthy families. I discovered this,when I was, for a couple, of years a soldier in the British Amry myself. The way it is done is very simple. A second lieutentant, is the lowest rank of officer and his pay is less than what he has to pay in "Mess Fees" , which are compulsory for him. This means, that If someone wants to be an officer in the British army, he has to have someone to subsidise him until he has a pay-grade high enough to allow him to pay his mess fees. The result is that a lot of British army officers are of very mediocre intelligence. I know. I have met some of them. I have served under them. In two years service, I met one really intelligent officer (I heard tell of two others) and one moderately intelligent one. The rest struck me as either moderately or very stupid.

  4. It seems to me, that the US has "The Keys to Europe". It has, after all, Military Bases all over. If Putin (Or anyone else, for that matter!) could offer a big enough bribe, or threat, they would hand it over in a heartbeat.
