I have seen examples in other branches of science, of dogmatism and stubborn adherance to discredited ideas, so I can well imagine the sort of efforts to suppress knowledge of "inconvenient" evidence for unorthodox ideas in archeology. Sadly, some scientists seem to react as defensively to attacks on their "Brain children" as they probably would to attacks on their biological offspring.
