I think it is almost certain that the reason we have such an inadequate set of leaders in Europe (and the US, come to that) is that they have all been selected because they are vulnerable to blackmail, i.e. not because of their abilities. They all bought into the twin myths; that Russia was very weak and badly organized and that NATO was the "greatest military power the World has ever seen" and they thought therefore, that the Russians would buckle under when the UAF attacked Donbass and the sanctions struck home in Russia. Now that it is becoming clearer by the day that they miscalculated on every assumption, they have no way to turn. Time to panic, in fact.
