It looks to me as though Europe's best plan would be to elect new, "right-wing" governments, and then to go to the Russians and say something along the lines of : "We are new governments, we repudiate absolutely, the policies that our predessors were following . We would like to re-establish reasonable relations to you and to start with, we would like to negotiate a security architecture to give everyone peace of mind and then we can go on to re-establish mutually benficial commercial relations. How about it?" (It won't happen, of course!)
