Those that can do, those that can't sneer. Let me guess the nationality of the person who made this remark. The Chinese sent their "little robot vehicle" to the moon and landed it on the far side of the Moon, first try, and it is still working. No mean feat, that. They also communicate with it by means of a satellite parked in a Lagrange point, another first that they pulled off first time. They also sent a rover to the moon that took samples of moon-rock and returned them to earth in a week or two, all without failure. Sneer all you like, it will not bother the Chinese nor change one single fact.

On the contrary, they unlike NASA, have spoken only in terms of welcoming international involvement in their space labs and their moon base when and if it is built. This concern that the Chinese "might colonize" the moon is projection. This, imho is how the USA thinks, not how the Chinese think. I forget which Chinese official replied to an American journalist who asked about China's ambitions in the World, by saying: "We do not want an empire, we can see from history that empires are a lot of trouble and they always end badly. We want a world where countries are prosperous and will trade freely with us and with each other."
