"Wonder weapons" "Wunderwaffen" have usually been a disappointment. At least in modern times. The Germans, in WW2, had great hopes of their V1 and even more of their V2, but both made almost no difference to the course of the war. The real problem was that Germany had taken on the USSR and then most of the rest of the world. No Wunderwaffen could cure that! It takes something like the invention of firearms to make such a difference and even then it can sometimes fail. For instance the Maories had no modern weapons but by guerrilla warfare and brilliant generalship, they fought the British Army to a stalemate over twenty years. Napalm and Agent Orange, along with things that detected "Vietcong" by smell, were thought of as being certain to defeat the Vietnamese, but they didn't. In my opinion, the morale and professionalism of the soldiers and the skill of their generals fighting, has a far greater effect on the outcome of a war than the weapons employed. Take the Chinese Civil War as an example!

4:03 It looks as though the West would struggle to go into war-time production mode, as it needs supplies from Russia and China to do so and it has no reserves of skilled labour, needed to make large amounts of ammunition. The US has ordered weapons for the Ukrainians but the delivery is for months or years ahead.
