This is all pure projection: it is the US that was not satisfied with the status quo. It was not the Beijing government which kept on provoking the US over the Taiwan issue, it was the US government which kept egging on the small separatist movement in Taiwan to edge ever loser to a declaration of independence. It was the US that kept trying to get the Taipei regime, accepted as a National Government in such bodies as the UN. It was the US that kept sending more and more senior officials to Taipei. It was the US that stationed troops in Taiwan, not the Chinese. So accusing the Beijing government of "upsetting the "Status Quo", is simply inverting the truth. It's quite Orwellian, in fact.
