"Why?" is a good question. I think the most probable reason is that they are being blackmailed or threatened. Otherwise, alternatively, it looks as though they have been bought. I suppose, it could be either or both. We know that the US uses threats to get the votes it wants in the UN.

This "series of failed measures" was not imposed "in response to the Ukrainian war". No. This series of sanctions was dreamed up well before the war was provoked and the Collective West the War as an excuse to impose the sanctions. You can see that this was the case by the timing. How long would it take to prepare hundreds of sanctions including cutting Russia out of the SWIFT bank-clearing scheme? Less than 24 hours? I don't think so ! But that is how long it took after the Russians entered into the war that was going on in Donbas, to imposes these. You have to ask: Who benefits from the mess that Europe finds itself in?" Who benefits from the trebling of the price of gas? Who benefits from the destruction of the Nordsteam pipelines? Does Russia benefit from any of this? No. Who benefits from the huge expenditur on weapons in Ukraine? So, work out for yourself, who is behind all this. It will not strain your brain!
