  1. "Russia's first notable gain in months." This remark is characteristic of a reactionary mindset. Reactionaries always overvalue things, such as territory and undevalue people. The Russians announced at the start of the SMO, that they had 3 aims. 1) to demilitarise Ukraine. 2) To de-nazify Ukraine. 3) to prevent Ukraine joining NATO. Over the course of the last nearly two years they have largely de-militarised, not only Ukraine, but also drained the military stockpiles of the collective West. They have killed a large number of Ukrainian "Extreme right-wingers" (Particularly in Adviivka, where they were forced into the fight, which they have mostly kept out of!) These are both wins for the Russians. If they want territory they can now get it much more easily than they could before the "wins" mentioned above. Their third aim is not yet acheived, but it is pretty certain now that it will be.
