  1. A lot of balloons do not have a "propulsion system" they simply drift with the wind. If you want your balloon to drift in a particular direction, you pump gas in or out of the envelope to move the balloon up or down to where the wind is blowing in the direction you want it to go. Balloons with a "propulsion system" are usually called "Dirigibles". For example the Goodyear Blimp.

Why be surprised that there are obstacles in your way, when you finally get round to trying to do it?

  11. The problem the NATO forces (Which is what the Ukrainian forces really are) have, is they are being trained in a style of warfare appropriate to Iraq or Serbia. This war differs from any previous war in that both sides can see the other side's every move, there are hundreds, or maybe thousands of drones in the air at any time, watching the enemy. There are satellites, on both sides, watching the battle space and relaying information back to their controllers constantly. There is no such thing as a "Surprise Attack"! The Ukrainians have not found a way to overcome the minefields, in front of the Russians defensive lines. When (if) they do and they get to the first Russian defense line, the real, hard, fighting will start.
