Another thing that needs thinking about is this: If this war goes on much longer, then the Russians will be facing, with a battle-hardened army, a "demilitarized" NATO. This will be a very great temptation to the Russians to "strike while the iron is hot" or perhaps, to not miss a golden opportunity to impose their ideas on the peace or even to simply go on to defeat NATO militarily while it is so weak. Such opportunities do not come more than once in a hundred years.
