Above all, they cannot admit that the REAL PLAN, was to overthrow the Russian Government, install a West-friendly puppet in Putins place, Carve up Russia into manegable-sized portions and loot them. I doubt that most Europeans would accept this as having been rational, never mind the morality of it.
