57:28 The launch of the SMO on Feb 24th last year was itself a pre-emptive attack. So it would not be a totally uncharacteristic action if the Russians attacked before the UAF got its Attack act together.

@Jamicaman516 The Ukrainians were quite clearly (They said they were.) going to attack the Donbas, with a view to killing or driving out all the Russian-speaking residents. It cost the Russian a ton in the view of the western public, true, but, it would have cost the Russian government a public-relations disaster at home if they had stood bye and just let it happen. As to "world-wide opinion" it seems that outside the collective west, it has had relatively little effect.
