I had a polydactyl cat that I had from about 12 weeks old. The reason she was that old when she came to me was that the family where she was born were a bit reluctant to say goodbye to her. Like your cat she was the dominant cat in the household from the time she arrived. We had two, well established, adult female cats before she arrived, but she made it clear on first meeting that she was the Boss. She was far and away the most intelligent animal I have ever met and the day she was killed (I think by a motor cycle) was one of the worst days I have ever suffered.
