  1. socialist countries usually have gotten sanctioned. another thing with china is that they have five-year plans like the soviet union. if capitalism was more of the answer than socialism, then why didn't india grow as fast as china (they even had similar levels of poverty starting off)? there's something that really separates the two..

  2. china is fairly successful despite being a "communist" or "socialist" country as well as vietnam. i would say that they have moved away from having a planned economy to a market economy, they still have five-year plans like the soviet union and state-owned enterprises along with collectives/cooperatives.
