@RechtmanDon Capitalism is always short-changing itself. It's not in the interest of capitalism for people to be lifted out of poverty; that's done through the government, namely a socialist or communist government. Most of China's economy is still state-owned.

No, that's not how it works. Capitalists initially prefer private ownership to begin with and start with the private sector eating away the public sector to buff up themselves. Which is why you have countries like the US and UK where their economies are under 5% state/publicly owned.

@panoskatrin4910 state capitalism under what conditions? If the proletariat has monopoly over it, it is socialist (as Lenin says); otherwise, it isn't. Wealth inequality doesn't matter under socialism, but wealth inequality is done away with under communism because there are still classes under socialism.

@Sadnessiuseless China is already socialist (they're in the primary stage of socialism and have a socialist market economy). They're just looking to transition towards a higher stage of socialism.
