It may also be a shock to you that the gdp in the united states is calculated taking into account all mortgage transactions. in Russia, home ownership is 89%, this huge part of GDP falls to Russia, only because Russians have their own housing and they don’t owe anyone 🤷‍♂️

@petersinclair3997 a mortgage is a loan. The more people with a mortgage, the more debt. Someone's loan is someone's asset. in this case, a bank that issues money on the condition that mortgage payments will be received. If you don’t believe me, you can read for yourself what GDP is made up of - produced goods, services, loans.
