  6. Most people didn't think Ukraine would last.. before the war, Ukraine's troops were mostly untrained, ill-equipped, and lacking the will to fight. People thought Russia would storm right in, install a puppet government in Kiev, and order would be restored. Russia gave Ukrainians the will to fight, and the west supplied them. Things changed.

Why would Ukraine ever join Poland just because it was part of the PLC hundreds of years ago? Not only that but there is also a religious difference, Ukraine is Orthodox, Poland is Catholic.

  20.  @Bln-f9u  Population is absolutely important. If there were no immigration, population would shrink rather quickly generation per generation. There is a reason China is one of the strongest countries both economically and militarily right now. Once India catches up with it's development, it will surpass even China. What would a Europe with a total population of 50 million do on the world stage? Nothing. it would be even more insignificant than it is now.

Look at what they did to the Falun Gong. As soon as an ideology starts to get too much influence, the CCP cracks down on it. You have no real freedoms in China
