  1. The fact you call them Macedonians shows where you really stand on this. History aside, if you name your country after an entire region, you implicitly are claiming that entire region, how do you not see this?

  3. Yes it was done to maintain their hold on the bases. They feared if the island forcefully united with Greece, they would lose their geographically strategic military bases. It's a shame Greece stayed out of WW1 like they did. At the time, Britain offered to give Greece, Cyprus if they joined the war against the Ottomans. Sure, the war would have been costly for Greece, but in the end they likely would have had Cyprus and the Sevres concessions in Anatolia and Constantinople.
