The USA won't even officially recognize Taiwan's independence.. just because a nation is free and democratic doesn't make it a puppet state to the US. Get a grip on reality. Do you think Ukraine should just give it's land all to Russia? What are you even arguing for here..

I'm sure you would prefer these smaller nations remain defenseless to be more easily conquered by tyrannical countries.. give me one good argument against weapon sales to countries just trying to defend themselves? I would see the issue with giving weapons to aggressive countries, but Taiwan and Ukraine are not that.

It isn't anymore and hasn't been for nearly 100 years.. the culture there has slowly drifted away from the culture of the mainland. Mainly due to the great leap backwards in China.
