  1. This was an extensive autopsy, and done in a way everyone can understand. However, there are doubts in the air. I'm not an engineer ( or mechanic, for that matter), I'm just a DIYer kind of person. If it was a gasket failure, wouldn't all pistons be affected? Could it be some sort of material fatigue on that part connecting the cam shaft and the piston? Some sort of a crack not detected by quality control? It takes a lot of power to break that piece in 3. It had to break next to the piston, because there is no bend. As the bottom part is swung around, it had to hit something causing the bend and eventually breaking. Have yourself a great day.
