I don't know about the Lancia S4, but a friend of mine had a Lancia Delta HF Integrale. It was a power monster. I've asked him how was it to drive it, because of so much power, and he told me the rear axle had opposite driving wheels. By that I mean, the rear wheels turn into the opposite direction of the front wheels (only a few degrees), to help cope with turning. Now, I've never heard of such a system being used in road cars, but it surely helps turning, especially at low speed tight corners.
