Poles, i knew many growing up, as well as Serbian Royalists, all fought well with the hope of going home afterwards which largely did not happen. None of them ever caused as much trouble as the later ethnics, but became model and full citizens.

  5.  @emceedoctorb3022  I was referring back to the comment of Indian troops, i was agreeing with you. I knew an officer of the 6th GR who fought in Italy in ww2 and won the MC, being wounded, he had nothing but praise for the Gurkhas and some attached Indian troops. My late neighbour, died at 99, was in the Merchant Navy in ww2 mostly on the Americas runs to UK, including the Caribbean he said there were very few in the ships, some Chinese or Malays, most of the black people were shore based or some in the ports here temporarily before they got another ships berth on the return journey.
