Doctors have the legal right to do both, they are contracted professionals, not NHS property. They have always had that right even from day 1 of the NHS

@pussypostlethwaitsaeronaut8503 As a health professional until recently in the NHS, Barrie is correct, they are draining our resources and using up what others have paid all their lives into and not contributing. The word is PAID not PAYED.

You do realise that Doctors are contracted as professionals to work within the NHS they are not owned by the NHS and can legitimately choose how they practice within the NHS or Privately or not at all. The problem is not the medical or nursing or other health professionals. It is the fact that resources paid for by tax payers and National Insurance payers, are abused by those who pay nothing, including all the illegals and health tourists. On one recent day in the NHS when i was working. over 70% of those attending the Emergency department were illegals or non payers. That is unsustainable.
