@novirasputin2 Russia was already in Crimea, it has bases there by agreement, from well before the USSR ceased to exist. A British General stated that his move to protect those bases was "the most logical thing he could have done". He was right it protects the underbelly of Russia, against threats from outside. Russia and all the other nations that border the Black Sea have had a treaty for decades that transfers governance on a rotational basis.
As a member of OSCE, i can state that this war was started in 2014, when an illegal regime change coup (Obama, Biden, Nuland and others)forced out the democratically elected leader of Ukraine, and Russia did not start it, i have read ALL the reports since then about the conflict. For example, on one July day over a period of 4 hours Ukraine fired 100 x 152 mm artillery shells INTO Donbas which is a war crime, to use artillery against civilians is a war crime. That was a regular occurrence. Ukraine's regime under Poroshenko and Zelenski have been killing Russian ethnic civilians since 2014 in a racist, genocidal, ethnic cleansing , terroristic campaign, with a mass of war crimes and severe human rights abuses, not to mention abuses against religious establishments, priests, nuns, monks.
The regime glorifies as a hero, a ww2 nazi butcher called Stepan Bandera who literally butchered 115,000 Poles, mostly women and children, in hideous ways, but also including 15,000 Polish soldiers, our allies.
Zelenski personally glorified, on film, a nazi Waffen SS veteran in the Canadian parliament as a hero. In 2014 in Odessa they burned to death 48 people. The west are supporting a nazi war criminal regime. That is sickening to decent people, especially those like me who had relatives fighting the nazis in ww2, including D-Day, another fought in France, North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Austria and Germany against nazis of the type Ukraine glorifies.

Sweden has been groomed by USA for years to join NATO nothing new, Finland has also had consultations with NATO, an ulterior motive of the management of NATO is not defence but because Russia has legitimately opened up its Arctic bases, to protect its Arctic energy and oil resources, and because the ice is melting opening northern routes from west to east, and east to west, for which Russia has built larger icebreakers/ shipping lane clearance ships to aid its commercial shipping, which pass northern Norway Sweden and Finland. Quite recently the USA tried to buy Greenland so they could exploit the resources in those regions and dominate the arctic including Russia's legitimate resources, oil and gas and trade. The Greenlanders refused. This is also about restricting Russia's desire to build it's economy and standards of living, commerce, sea routes, exploration, and legitimate aims. Nord Stream 2 was part of that project, Nord Stream 1 Passes over Ukraine and Poland for which Russia pays fees, Nord Stream 2 would reduce the revenues from those fees to Ukraine and Poland, if NS 1 was closed. but Putin never once as far as i can research ever said he would cut supplies to Europe. The USA wants to dominate over oil and energy and the expensive tanker ship delivery of energy to the Baltic and Ukraine is part of that. Which is why Biden and Hunter Biden corruptly got involved in the Ukraine's energy company Burisma. Hunter's buddy in that venture has just been prosecuted for a $16 million dollar fraud in the USA. This is all about energy, the $ usd, power, domination and corrupt deliberate restriction and damage to Russia's planned economy. This has led to the threshold of ww3 and Mutually Assured DEATH for all of us, thanks to the corrupt US government of today.

BBC very careful to emphasise the hits on civilian areas in Ukraine, but never a mention of the nine years of terror from the genocidal, racist, war criminal, corrupt, nazi glorifying (Bandera) (waffen SS in Canada ) regime of Ukraine (installed by a coup instigated by Biden and Nuland in 2014, in which 40 plus people were burned to death in Odessa and many other deaths) against the Russian ethnic citizens of eastern Ukraine. As a registered member with OSCE i have read all the reports of observers on the ground of the indiscriminate, brutal attacks on civilians there, i do not ever remember seeing the BBC mentioning the suffering of them. My great uncle landed on D-Day as a Royal Marine Commando to fight nazis and remove the scourge from Europe, only to be appalled to see the UK mis-government and establishment openly aiding a regime that murders civilians over a nine year period, aiding nazi loving genocidal, racists is NOT what the UK should be doing. The government, parliament and establishment have sunk to the level of nazi supporters akin to the thousands of European of all nations who in ww2 joined the Waffen SS and other nazi organisations. BBC and Uk establishment are disgusting hypocrites. Was the scene of Zelensky, a Jew, openly within the Canadian parliament glorifying a nazi Waffen SS Ukrainian volunteer not enough to disgust you, the same Waffen SS who murdered allied troops all over Europe and including many hundreds of Canadians, British and other personnel. Have you become the nazis, linked to the 4th Reich of the EU, NATO, USA or puppets like the sick cartel in Washington, who started this evil war in 2014 not 2022. Nine years of butchery by Kiev and you ignored it.
