  4. Dave Canterbury does some great survival books, as do many other authors on the subject of survival. Best idea is to try the techniques at at home before you need them

  5. In UK, England, I use the wood pellet cat litter, and the fullers earth varieties, you can make a great fire starter with the wood ones when stranded in snow and engine u/s but fuel available. I spent two happy warm days in a snow hole with cooking fire outside and hot food and drinks by going well equipped. You never know when freak weather can hit, and even without snow, survival gear can be vital.
