The brutality of the Chinese Communists is no secret to many from the Korean war to date, there is a chapter in a book called Beyond Courage by Clay Blair about aircrew survival during that war and what happened to wounded POW's,  I also once had the privilege as a teenager of speaking to former POW's who had fought at Imjin Ridge from the Gloucestershire Regiment and how they had been ill-treated. In contrast there are details of how kind the ordinary Koreans under Chinese and North Korean communist oppression and in fear of their lives aided and saved allied airmen.
