@dontaylor7315 It is historical fact that Foresters wore a green uniform for summer and grey for winter which fits the seasonal colour changes. They also wore, for safety identification, a Red Hood. The green dyes for Lincoln Green are made from blue woad mixed with yellow weld which creates a deep green, that was quite a common colour for some time, whereas the Red was far more expensive. It might well be that Robin Hood was actually a partial name and more of a description, Red or Robin red. So his name may well have been Robert or Rob or Robin. But also may have been John of the Red (or Robin) Hood later abbreviated. Much the same as the Robin Red Breast bird. Lincoln Green was first recorded in 1510 and gone by the late 16th century centred naturally in Lincoln., according to wiki. I have often wondered what other greens the archers, hunters and forester would wear. After 1066 the Normans created forest parks so some law enforcement by men in green with red hoods would at some time become evident. Always fascinating.
