NATO is not a shield it is a very big target, within which are multiple archery targets and every one of the multitude of bulls-eyes has already been recorded, logged, positioned, targeted, programmed for the last 40 years or more but now very much updated with newer Russian systems. Russia has been ready for the west to try this for decades. All the so-called wonder weapons have also been thoroughly prepared for, and Russian equipment and defences tailored to deal with them and even exceed the parameters. Any military strategist or tactician worth a damn has known this for years. Russia has a long history of surprises. There is sense in your 2nd 3rd paragraphs, there are millions at risk and the USA does not give a hoot how many in Europe die as a result of their insanity.

@markwalton8644 use up the older tanks and retain the newer ones for later, good practice, T-55 are still functional and effective against all kinds of targets, and bloody scary, i have been near one and T-62, they work.

The Russians probably know every last detail of most NATO platforms already, they have not been sitting idle for over 40 years.
