it might also be the fact that in the history of Ukraine the German nation has a dark past. But also today Ukraine has paramilitaries who glorify the nazi aligned past, during the Holodomor, Ukraine's own version of holocaust, nazi aligned forces from Ukraine slaughtered, tortured, raped, imprisoned and sent to death camps, thousands of Ukranian's and other ethnic groups. Since the coup, instigated by the USA (Nuland etc) Ukraine's government illegally used military weapons to kill unarmed civilians in the east, they also used paramilitaries or militias who continue to glorify the nazi past against those civilians, with military weapons and terror. Under International Law, The Laws of War, The Hague and Geneva Conventions, and even Ukraine's own laws that is illegal and constitutes war crimes. Poroshenko and Zelensky are responsible for those actions. Is it any wonder the ethnic Russian citizens of Ukraine later defended themselves and got support from their blood relatives in Russia. OSCE reports since 2014 have shown that the propaganda being spread is NOT what actually happened between Russia and Ukraine. So maybe Germany wishes to be as far away from the shame and disgrace that the west seems to support, and not be painted with the same brush as repeating a nazi narrative. Germany may not want to be tainted once more by such evils. The western nations should also remember the part that they all played in their own nazi pasts of the Waffen SS units thousands of their citizens formed and think twice about supporting a non democratic state Ukraine that freely uses illegal methods and nazi loving paramilitaries today. We do not need Cold War 2 or World War 3, this is insanity.

@ethanmartin1481 They are training exercises and take place every year or two years to give experience to new soldiers and officers on how the forces work together, no different to what the west and other nations do. How else are new soldiers supposed to learn how the whole range of systems work as a large force entity. Train Hard Fight Easy. Plus it is winter, and they excel in winter warfare, more to the point is how to defend Russia in the winter, that needs snow and cold weather, it happens to be winter, even the west trains in winter, it pays dividends when you live in the northern hemisphere. Then also Russia has rebuilt its arctic northern bases to defend its energy interests after the USA wanted to buy Greenland and its resources and get closer to Russia's arctic resources. Makes good sense to me and i am in UK and have had winter warfare training.

@Melitopol2130 Russia was a reliable supplier to Ukraine, selling energy at a very low price, until Ukraine began stealing from the pipelines and not paying its bills. Nord Stream 2 is there to supply energy cheaper to Europe, than the very expensive energy from the USA carried in tankers (not so Green ), which makes economic sense for Europe and Russia, who happen to be Europeans too. It also avoids the very high revenues Poland and Ukraine extract from Russia for the land based pipelines. It makes economical sense to both regions to trade and the USA does not like that. Do not forget that corrupt Biden and his corrupt son Hunter were associated with the Ukraine energy agency, Hunter was paid millions for a job he knew nothing about. Biden has done a great job in fu**ing up the US and other oil and energy industries and caused thousands of job losses too. The USA cannot even trust its own fuel supplies in the future, not to mention fu**ing up the Canadian pipeline to USA, stabbing his allies in the back. US supplies to Europe as a result, could make them an unreliable supplier to Europe and far more expensive than Russian-European supplies.

@michaelboano7183 That last sentence could equally apply to the USA and NATO pushing eastwards towards Russia, hence the justified concerns of Russia, and why the west needs to stick to promises it made in black and white about no more eastward expansionist policies, and why the Minsk agreements need to be fulfilled comprehensively.

@Ephward Shartwell Most of those Russian oligarchs stole from Russia and left and are now in opposition to Russia, Biden and son Hunter and his colleagues were involved with the same sort of criminals in Ukraine and also China it seems

@esanahka9284 Von der Leyen made a total mess of the German armed forces and they are not as capable as you might think, and some of the others are not up to the levels they need, and i doubt if anyone actually wants a war with Russia for no reason.
